Master the Art of Event Preparation

We’re in the holiday season (already!) and today we’re diving headfirst into the world of easy and seamless event planning. Seriously! It does not have to be challenging, especially if you’re booking at the Fig or Palm Room where we have everything that you need to get the party started. But even if you’re not entertaining in our charming beachside venues, here is a simple checklist to get your party started.

  1. Party personality: Are you throwing a chic soirée, a laid-back fiesta, or an off-the-wall extravaganza? Define your party's personality to guide your decisions on everything from decorations to entertainment.

  2. Theme: Do you need one? It depends on what type of party your hosting. Your theme can center around a holiday or even a color, or a style (a.k.a. your party personality). Baby showers, bridal showers, or birthdays typically have a theme, but to keep things simple, just focus on what type of party your throwing (laid back, elegant soiree, or backyard bbq) and go from there.

  3. Venue: Book the Fig and Palm Room ;)

  4. Food: Catering or cooking yourself? Whether your going gourmet or embracing comfort food, make sure your menu caters to all tastes. Consider a DIY food station (taco bar anyone?), or have food catered. Thankfully we have a number of wonderful options for catering right in Jacksonville that are affordable and can feed a crowd. If your catering for your event, schedule the order 2 weeks in advance or more.

  5. Signature drinks: You can elevate the experience with signature cocktails that align with your theme, plus this makes it easy rather than have a number of different cocktails that your guests are making. If you have bartending service than this just makes it easier. Consider a wine and beer bar, along with a signature cocktail, and don’t forget to have non-alcoholic options as well.

  6. Swag bags or Favors: Depending on what type of event your hosting, send your guests home with a piece of the party. Swag bags filled with local treats, custom trinkets or a heartfelt thank-you note are a delightful way to express gratitude for guests coming to your party.

  7. Music: Obviously

  8. Embrace the Unexpected: No matter how meticulously you plan, the unexpected is bound to happen. Embrace it! Whether it’s an impromptu dance circle or unplanned karaoke session, the best memories often come from the unplanned moments.

Creating the perfect event is not just about the planning, it’s all about creating an experience that your guests will remember. Here’s to creating events that sparkle with joy and unforgettable moments!
